❓ FAQ

PromoIQ Extension FAQ

Everything you need to know about installing and using PromoIQ

🔒 Privacy & Security

Does PromoIQ track my browsing history?

No. Never. PromoIQ only activates when you click the extension icon. We don't run in the background, don't track what sites you visit, and don't collect browsing data. This is how we're different from Honey and other extensions.

What data does PromoIQ collect?

When you click the extension on a store, we read the current page URL and product info to find relevant codes and prices. We store anonymized usage stats (which stores people use PromoIQ on, which codes worked). We never collect: passwords, payment info, browsing history, personal data, or anything from pages you don't explicitly use PromoIQ on.

Is my feedback data safe?

Yes. Feedback is stored in Firebase (Google Cloud) with encryption at rest. Your email is only used to follow up on bugs you report. We never sell or share your data.

🛠️ Features & Usage

How does auto-apply work?

When you're on a checkout page with a promo code field, click PromoIQ and hit "Auto-Apply." We'll try each known code one by one, measure the discount, and keep the one that saves you the most. It typically takes 10-30 seconds depending on how many codes we have for that store.

Why didn't PromoIQ find any codes for my store?

Some stores have very few active promo codes, or their codes may be targeted (email-only, first-time buyer, etc.). We're constantly expanding our code database. If you know a working code we missed, report it via the feedback form — you'll help other users!

How is price comparison different from Google Shopping?

PromoIQ links you directly to the exact product on other retailers — not a search results page. We also inject affiliate links transparently so we earn a small commission (at no cost to you) which funds the free tier.

Which stores are supported?

PromoIQ works on any store with a promo code field, but we have optimized support for: Amazon, Nike, Target, Walmart, Best Buy, Sephora, Nordstrom, Macy's, Home Depot, Wayfair, Adidas, Under Armour, Etsy, Kohl's, Old Navy, Gap, Zappos, and Lowe's.

🚀 Install & Support

How do I install PromoIQ?

Open the PromoIQ install guide, add the Chrome extension, pin it to your toolbar, and click the icon on a store page to find codes and compare prices.

Is PromoIQ still in beta?

PromoIQ is public. Some features still improve quickly based on feedback, but new users should install the extension through the public setup guide instead of joining a beta waitlist.

How do I send feedback or report a bug?

Use the feedback form with the store URL, what you expected, and what happened. Specific store examples help us fix detection and code coverage faster.

🔧 Troubleshooting

The extension icon is grayed out

PromoIQ only activates on web pages (http/https). It won't work on browser internal pages (chrome://, about:, etc.), new tab pages, or the Chrome Web Store. Navigate to any online store and the icon will light up.

Auto-apply isn't working on a specific store

Some stores use non-standard checkout forms that our detector can't find yet. Please report it via the feedback form with the store URL — we'll add support for it. In the meantime, you can always copy codes manually with one click.

The popup is blank or shows an error

Try these steps:

1. Right-click the PromoIQ icon → "Manage Extension" → toggle off and on

2. Close and reopen Chrome

3. If still broken, uninstall and reinstall the extension

4. If none of that works, report the bug with your Chrome version
